Chevre - Restaurant Design
Our client desired an innovative concept for her restaurant that highlights the menu offerings, which will feature French Country cuisine. The targeted audience for this restaurant is in the 25 - 65 age range and $$ - $$$ price bracket. The goal for the atmosphere is to create a comfortable, cozy, old-world charm restaurant environment in which food, wine, and the atmosphere are the focus.
Process.
Tackling my first major commercial project in college as well as my first major partner project at the same time was certainly a learning curve, but it was one of the most influential projects in that it caused me to grow and problem solve quickly in a three month span. My partner and I started off our design by researching French country cuisine and style. We then took this research and started sketching out ideas that incorporated our own spin on them. From there, these sketches started to bring about the foundation of our restaurant.
After the main layout and design was agreed upon, it was our job to build out our restaurant in SketchUp (a fairly new program to us at the time) as well as render the scenes for a life-like quality. Here is where the partnership as well as adaptability became vital to the success of the design. We learned from each other, helped each other, taught each other, and pulled through with each other. Although at times it was quite difficult and we may have thought we were not going to finish, it ultimately landed on the strength of the partnership and the ability to adapt that created a successful design.

Final.
The aged elegance of this French country solace invites viewers in with its garden feel and rustic touches. Large architectural features such as Venetian plaster walls and whitewashed beams give the restaurant the grandeur and elegance it requires.
Emphasis on wine through casement features and lighting as well as farm to table goods give the space a focus on delicious food and drink to entice guests. Delicate toile and use of lavender round out the design giving the touch of true French country qualities for viewers to escape to their solace in Provence.
